Keep in mind these are not ALL the symptoms but rather the most common ones. 

Physical Symptoms: 

  • Fatigue

  • Malnutrition

Emotional/Behavioral Symptoms: 

  • Avoiding artificial colors, flavors or preservatives, pesticides, genetic modification, fat, sugar, salt, animal or dairy products, and other ingredients that are seen to be unhealthy

  • Eliminating food groups in order to be "clean" or strive for a "perfect" diet

  • Avoiding social events that involve food 

  • Anxiety over how meal is prepared 

  • Judging those who do not follow a strict diet 

  • Spreading an immense amount of time and money in meal planning and food choices 

  • Feels extreme guilt or shame when they do not follow their diet 

  • Feels satisfied when they eat "healthy" and lose interest in activities they once enjoyed

  • Fear that not eating at home will make it impossible to follow their extreme diet 

  • Avoiding eating food that is bought or prepared by others 

  • Increasing depression, mood swings, and anxiety 

  • Obsessing over health issues such as asthma, digestive problems, low mood, anxiety or allergies 

  • Avoiding food due to allergies without medical advice 

  • Increase consumption of supplements, herbal remedies or probiotics 

  • Consuming fewer than 10 foods or severely reducing food options 

  • Irritation over how food is prepared the sterilization
